Sir William Jackson Hooker, (* 6. Juli 1785 in Norwich; † 12. August 1865 in Kew), war ein britischer Botaniker.

William Jackson Hooker bereiste 1809 Island in botanischem Interesse und wurde bald darauf Professor der Botanik in Glasgow und 1839 Direktor des Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew wie des mit demselben verbundenen Herbariums, welches das umfangreichste der Erde ist. Neben dieser großartigen Sammlung hat Hooker Museen eingerichtet, welche Pflanzenprodukte enthalten, die in irgend welcher Beziehung zum praktischen Leben stehen. Denn es war stets Hookers Bestreben, die Wissenschaft fürs Leben zu verwerten. Hooker sorgte für Anlegung von Kolonialgärten, welche alle wieder mit den Gärten in Kew zusammenhingen und mit diesen ein gleiches Ziel verfolgten. Unter den systematischen Botanikern gehörte Hooker zu den bedeutendsten seiner Zeit. Die Floristik und die systematische Botanik in ihrem ganzen Umfang sind durch ihn wesentlich gefördert worden, vor allem aber waren es die Farne und die Moose, denen er besondere Studien gewidmet hat. Sein Sohn Joseph Dalton Hooker, war ebenfalls ein bedeutender Botaniker
